Jan Lewis is a painter, photographer and creator of mixed media pieces. She began art training at Georgia State University and later applied her creative talents to rehabilitation, earning a BS in Occupational Therapy from Georgia Regents University. She continued her education earning a MA from Adams State University. Jan has and continues to explore a variety of art mediums; she experiments with the interplay of color with a variety of surfaces to create images both abstract, expressionist, and realistic. She gains inspiration from the landscapes of the west as well as beaches on both coasts. She has recently been exploring abstraction through pastels, watercolor and India inks. Her inspiration comes from experiences as diverse as observing a wild Mexican dog to a unknown boy sitting on the curb playing a video game, but the unifying theme behind them is the place in nature they occupy. Jan has exhibited work in juried shows and galleries in Florida and Colorado. A Georgia native, Jan divides her time in Colorado and Florida along with husband, Gary, a golden retriever and calico cat. Jan Lewis Gallery is Now OPEN! 1110 12th Ave West in the Village of the Arts, Bradenton Fl, 34205.
